What is the difference between an insurance broker and an agent?
An agent is appointed by one insurer and sells that insurer's products. A broker is licensed by IRDAI to represent the customer and can place a policy with any insurer. Trustner Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd. holds IRDAI Direct Broker Licence No. 1067.
Does using a broker cost more?
No. The premium is set by the insurer and is the same whether you buy directly, through an agent or through a broker. The broker is paid by the insurer within the limits IRDAI sets.
Do you help if a claim is refused?
Yes, for policies placed through the company. The claims team reviews the refusal, prepares the representation to the insurer and, if needed, guides you to IRDAI's Bima Bharosa portal and the Insurance Ombudsman. The decision on a claim is the insurer's.
